On August 6, 2008, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with Miguel Angel Moratinos, Spanish minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, who is here to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Yang welcomed Moratinos to visit China and attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, saying that recent years have witnessed a sound development momentum in bilateral ties with fruitful pragmatic cooperation in all areas. Yang expressed hope that both sides will continue to maintain high-level exchanges, enhance the level of economic and trade cooperation and keep closer humanities contacts, so as to push bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

Moratinos appreciated China's enormous preparatory efforts for the Olympic Games and wished the games a great success. He said the Spanish government attaches great importance to developing ties with China and hopes both sides will further enhance high-level political dialogue and push mutually beneficial cooperation on economy, trade and culture for greater progress.

Spanish Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Miguel Sebasti醤 also attended the meeting.
