On August 4, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi held talks with Chair of the 2008 APEC Senior Officials Meetings and Peruvian Deputy Foreign Minister Gonzalo Gutierrez, exchanging views on APEC cooperation and this year's APEC leaders' informal meeting.
