The international community has extended sincere sympathy and condolence and offered various forms of support and assistance to the Chinese government and people since the massive earthquake hitting Wenchuan of Sichuan province. As of July 18, the Foreign Ministry and Chinese embassies, consulates and diplomatic corps have received from foreign governments, organizations and individuals RMB1.71 billion of donations, including RMB770 million from foreign governments and international and regional organizations, RMB1.99 million from foreign diplomatic bodies and personnel in China and RMB939 million from foreign civil organizations, businesses, individuals and overseas Chinese, students abroad and Chinese-funded organizations.

The Foreign Ministry has transferred the fund to the Donation Account for Wenchuan Earthquake Disaster Relief opened by the Chinese government or the recipients designated by the donors in a timely manner and informed the donors of the use intention of the fund.
